Kochi: City-based transgender entrepreneur Thripthi Shetty has launched a mobile app with the support of a technology firm for online sale of handicraft products. She is the first transgender person to register under Handicrafts Development Corporation of Kerala and to obtain an Artisan Identity Card from the Union ministry of textiles.
“The mobile app ‘Thripthi handicrafts’ can be downloaded from Google Play Store.
Customers can choose from a wide range of products offered at attractive prices, with periodic offers and discounts. Products will be delivered at your doorstep,” said Shetty, adding that she is the first transgender person in the country to launch a mobile app for handicraft products. She had already launched a website www.thripthi.in.
“Sales proceeds from every product, at the rate of Rs 10 per product, will be set aside for the welfare of transgender community and for the underprivileged. All the products of transgender persons and financially backward artisans can be put for sale through this mobile app,” she said.
Now, hand-painted sarees are available on ‘Thripthi handicrafts’.
